Hmmm...

I am having a strange desire to buy a dress. Maybe if I sit down it will pass...

Or I could just take a look at my scaley legs...

Must close Nordstroms.com page...

Also

Does the NY Times only take wedding stories from people who are either Doctors, Lawyers or have a MBA? Need to feel like you have done nothing with your life? Read about these people!

More

Things I used to like but no longer enjoy at all: Disaffected youth, especially in adults.

Movies I have seen:

Laura - The classic. It was very good.

I am using Netflix to go back and watch at least one classic/and or Oscar winner from the past. They added a bunch to the watch it now section.

What I am watching right now - "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II." Yeah...I can't explain why either. But it has Rory from "Gilmore Girls," Serena from "Gossip Girl," Betty from "Ugly Betty," and Joan from "Joan of Arcadia." It's like TV heroine gold!

Updates and more random thoughts...

Things have been pretty good since my last post. I have successfully taken my bags into the grocery stores with me at least 75% of the time. I am better when it is time for my big weekend shop but still falter during the quick trips to the store.

I am in week 6 of my Eco class...only a few more days left and still holding in there. Accounting is next...none of these I did very well as an undergrad but I seem to have acquired some knowledge in the 14 years in between so that's encouraging.

Movies I have seen lately:

Adventureland
(took me back to 1987...good times)

Star Trek - surprisingly funny. I liked

Baby Mama - funny even if the ending was in my opinion not very plausible but I guess the whole movie really wasn't either

Jumper - ummm...it was fine. Not good, not bad.

I started on "Chariots of Fire" last night because Netflix instant has all these older movies and I thought I would try to get through some I hadn't seen. I am only half way through it.

A thought occurred to me the other day to blog about things I once thought were cool/attractive but now think are just very lame. I will have to add to this list but what inspired this thought was a guy with a soul patch. Back in 1991 I thought long sideburns and soul patches were hot! Now...I feel like the Luke Perry look should be put to rest, especially on men over 40.

Earth Day - a day late and other musings...

The good news is I am NOT drunk blogging. You have been spared. Sadly no one initiated a party on my behalf... The bad news is I AM blogging in general and it is kind of about nothing.

So let me start with a mini rant about how I have had a bad couple of weeks - house broken into (only MY stuff stolen. Sadly they did not steal my son's Backyardigans DVD), Newish (within a year) car messed up by local oil change establishment (if you live in SW Austin DO NOT GO TO the LUBE PITSTOP just before the Y in Oakhill. They cause damage and won't pay and will condescend and yell.) Be forewarned. Anyway, I have a new computer, new accounts and my car was fixed by Howdy Honda for free (I recommend them). SO...after this last couple weeks I want to say I hope it is over and I can have some good luck.

As for what I have been doing in my spare time (because I know you totally care)...I am in week 3 of my Economics class and so far am holding in there. I just don't understand as much as I should but I understand more than I thought I would. I am also doing TEAM Weightloss at the South Austin Lifetime Fitness. It has been hard but surprisingly fun. It has jump started my fitness routine again and I am working out nearly every day!

Future plans...well I see there is a great schedule for this summer at the Paramount for some classic movies - anyone want to join me for "Cool Hand Luke," "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "9 to 5," and "North by Northwest?" Let me know because they all look good (and I have ONLY seen 9 to 5).

So back to Earth Day. I have been TRYING, I mean REALLY TRYING to be better. I installed all those peachy lightbulbs that are supposed to use less energy and last 7 years (Turns out they are also filled with mercury - Ooops! and they also totally don't last 7 years). I have also started buying those bags at the grocery store instead of going for paper or plastic. Problem is I keep forgetting to take the bags back so I KEEP buying them. I think I have about 15 now. I am not sure when the madness with stop or I will get smart and take them IN THE DAMN STORE WITH ME!!!

Does anyone else have this issue? Please let me know I am not alone.

Thank you and have a lovely evening.

Drunk Blogging

Reading a co-workers blog (he posted poetry after drinking) made me think that maybe it would be fun to get drunk and blog. I passed this idea by Sinda who thought it could be highly entertaining.

So maybe...maybe not...next time I write in this blog it will be stream of consciousness drunk blogging. Who votes yes to this? I would offer to post drunken pictures while drunken blogging but alas my camera was stolen.

Now...who is going to have the party to get me into the blogging frame of mind? Any takers there? Low calorie food served would be a great accompaniment to the spirits since I am on a diet. Thanks for your consideration.

Great Show

Seriously you all, if you have not watched "Friday Night Lights" the TV show, you are missing a great show (I thought the movie was only ok). It's now in its' third and probably final season but you can catch all three of the seasons for FREE on Hulu.

Do yourself a favor and watch!

on the other hand

Xander and I are sharing earbuds to my computer and we are listening to Huey Lewis circa 1984 and "If this is it" off the Sports album. He likes to listen with me. And he is super cute.

Of course he asks to hear "Life is a Highway." Oh Pixar...why must you do that to me?

UPDATE - I adhered to his wishes. We are listening to "Life is a Highway" but the ORIGINAL Tom Cochran version...not the Rascal Flatts version from Cars... I have standards. They are low, but they are there...

"Sultan" by What Made Milwaukee Famous

Kind of feeling like this. Enjoy:

I've had less than my fair share of lucky breaks
And enough of this fooling around
I've got one last chance to get rid of my past
And bury it deep in the ground
And no matter what you try man
You're never gonna tear me down

When the only blame you cast is your own
And your only guarantee is your fear of the unknown
If you don't cut your losses before you get lost
They're never going to leave you alone

My best bits of advice I'll repeat only twice
After that you can fend for yourself
If you think that your shoes couldn't find better use
About just about anyone else

You need to face up and fold
Or deal with the hand you're dealt

Make up your mind
Are you in are you out
I've no patience for your impetuous doubt

When the only blame you cast is your own
And your only guarantee is your fear of the unknown
If you don't cut your losses before you get lost
They're never going to leave you alone
No

I've had less than my fair share of lucky breaks
And enough of this fooling around
I've got one last chance to get rid of my past
And bury it deep in the ground

Make up your mind
Are you in are you out
You'd be better served as a face in the crowd

You never want the truth to be told
And all your major concerns are out of your control
If you don't pick your feet up to come back around
You get stuck in my way you [???]

When the only blame you cast is your own
And your only guarantee is your fear of the unknown
If you don't cut your losses before you get lost
They're never going to leave you alone
Leave you alone
